Chic & Cheap Lifestyles is an affordable lifestyle blog about living the good life on a budget; I am a firm believer that a strict budget shouldn’t keep you from dressing in the latest trends or exploring the Amalfi Coast. With a background in finance, I know how important it is to have fashion “cents” - so sharing affordable fashion and beauty ideas, decor for less and travel tips that won’t break the budget is what my blog is all about. It’s all about living a fabulously chic, but cheap lifestyle!

What does personal style mean to you?

Personal style, to me, is all about attitude. I can rock a $5 blazer and look just as good as someone rocking a $500 blazer, with the right attitude! My personal style have evolved over the years and now I am not afraid to wear exactly what I want, even if it means getting a few odd stares or have my sister say to me " what is THAT"? I also think personal style is about confidence - if you feel good in it, GOOD!! wear it!

When you hear the word “fashion” what does it mean to you?

Expression. What you feel great in.

Personal Style: How do you think it is acquired?

I think your environment and who you are around totally influence you! I don't think I would dress the way I dress today if I lived in a city like NYC (hint: I would be SO broke because I would be shopping and trying to look on top of my game at all times!!). Luckily, Pittsburgh has so many affordable fashion options for me! I also think HOW you like to shop determines your personal style- I love hunting for a bargain and telling people about the good deals I get, so Nordstrom Rack, Gabe's and TJMaxx are my favorite places to shop.I also think I have always wanted to stand out a bit - I attended Catholic school for 12 years so I wore a uniform day in, day out. I wanted to stand out when I wasn't in that uniform!

How did you acquire yours?

Definitely my love for bargain hunting and finding the best deals I can! Also - see above about Catholic school uniforms.

Tell us about the piece of clothing in your wardrobe that makes you feel most confident?

I recently got a hot pink wide legged strapless jumpsuit that I am so obsessed with. Anything bright and colorful makes me feel confident, and this one in particular!

What staple pieces do you believe every woman should own?

A few!

A wool or down coat because it's SO cold in Pittsburgh in the winter, and the wool or down feathers make all the difference in freezing your butt off!

An denim jacket - can be vintage or store bought. I found one in a thrift store for $3, and also purchased one. I wear them with so many things, and always pack them on vacation

Heels you feel confident in. I don't mean that you have to wear 6 inch louboutins (although, I am jealous that you have a pair!!) but a great pair of nude or black pumps can be thrown on with a midi skirt, jeans, a dress - and you instantly can feel confident!
